Lin Benyuan Garden House

2024-04-11
When it comes to the "Banqiao Lin Family Garden," everyone is certainly familiar with it. This well-preserved Lin family garden building was built during the Qing Dynasty, and it was considered a luxurious mansion at that time. Fortunately, despite going through wars and the changes of the times, after multiple repairs and maintenance, most of it has been restored to its former appearance. The vast area shows the grandeur of a wealthy family. The garden is designed in the style of southern Jiangnan, with a unique and elegant layout. Between the pavilions, towers, and buildings, there are abundant and prosperous flowers and trees, creating a very rich landscape. The intricately carved architectural decorations are all extraordinary works, showing elegance in their magnificence, and are suitable for people to stop and appreciate quietly. Especially the various types of latticed windows, which not only add layers to the garden's scenery, but also carry the meaning of nobility and auspiciousness. The Banqiao Lin Benyuan Garden is a complete garden building. In ancient times, wealthy merchants built exquisite garden buildings in order to pursue a comfortable living experience, or to entertain officials and large business figures. They often spent large amounts of money to build beautiful gardens. However, due to natural disasters, wars, and the passage of time, most of them are now in ruins, or even completely disappeared, remaining only in the writings of scholars or historical records. It is fortunate that, although the Banqiao Lin Benyuan Garden suffered damage repeatedly after 1949, it has been restored to some of its former appearance through the efforts of several cultural relics experts who conducted multiple repairs based on research. The Banqiao Lin Benyuan Garden can be said to be a precious historical heritage left by our ancestors, and it is a treasure trove for understanding Taiwanese history and traditional architecture.
