The Shengcheng Tunnel, carved from granite rock, is located in front of the popular Chenjinglan Villa landmark. It combines functions of coastal tunnels and civil defense shelters. Compared to other tunnels in Jinmen, the Shengcheng Tunnel is relatively smaller in scale but completely outfitted with a command center, anti-tank artillery positions, anti-air artillery positions, machine gun emplacements, sleeping quarters, and a kitchen, serving significant functions during wartime. It is currently filled with numerous figurines recreating past defensive scenes, including a M-41 Walker Bulldog tank displayed at the碉堡 (bunker) for close-range interaction. The total length of the tunnel is 560 meters and divided by Zhongxing Pavilion as a central point. The section extending toward the seashore is controlled by the military to monitor Liaowo Bay, while the other end connects to Zhenyi Community Office, serving as a space for civilian evacuation and self-defense, demonstrating the past atmosphere of military-civilian unity in Jinmen. Now, the Shengcheng Tunnel and beach have transformed from wartime tension; the vibrant blue sea has become one of Jinmen’s most popular summer swimming attractions! Blue Tears: During the period of April to June every year due to wind direction and temperature changes, beautiful "blue tears" (phytoplankton Noctiluca scintillans) frequently appear in Jinmen's seas. Shengcheng Beach is an ideal viewing spot due to its accessibility and high safety level! ■ Blue Tears Viewing Tips ■ ■ Season: Late April to early June, during the period of Gregorian calendar (this time is foggy season, please carefully check flight conditions). ■ Time: Three days before and after new moon (with low moonlight), one to two hours before high tide. ■ Wind Direction: Southerly winds. ■ Recommended Equipment: Shoes with slip-resistant soles.
