In order to carry out the "Lieyu Jin San Dock and Surrounding Area Renovation Project," Jiugong Tunnels and Lieyu Tourist Center will be closed for renovation starting from June 5th, and will temporarily be closed to the public. The re-opening time will be announced according to the progress of the project. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. The most famous Jiugong Tunnels on Xiaogolden Island, together with the Zhaishan Tunnels on Dagolden Island, were underground warfare facilities adopted during wartime to ensure the safety of military supply operations. The main body of the tunnels are all made of hard granite. The Jiugong Tunnels, which were excavated with simple equipment and manpower during wartime, were completed in 1965. It is a double "T"-shaped waterway, about 750 meters in total length, with the main tunnel about 12 meters wide and 7 meters high. Starting from the Jiugong Wharf, it penetrates through the mountain and extends all the way to Luocun Fishing Harbor. The wide and intricately structured Jiugong Tunnels have four sea exits and five underground tunnels connecting the wharves, capable of accommodating 52 small boats. Nowadays, free from the panic of war, the tunnels are equipped with wax figures simulating the conditions of tunnel excavation at that time, allowing visitors to experience the hardships of the past. Lieyu Tourist Center Tour: Scheduled interpretation times: 9:50, 10:40, 14:00, 14:50. Tour duration: approximately 15 minutes.
