A unique painted bungalow sits beside the Gongfeng Temple in Lรผcuo, Jinsha. The local residents ingeniously utilized a combination of black, white, and gray colors to transform the drab concrete wall into a pattern reminiscent of the traditional Huan Men "Huapei" fabric. This has attracted numerous tourists to take photos. In the future, the neighborhood plans to organize related events alongside the building to enhance its status as a cultural landmark. Originally a simple concrete structure, this "Huapei" House near the Gongfeng Temple in Lรผcuo village, Jinsha, was an ordinary-looking building in a traditional settlement. However, once painted it became the most distinctive building in the community, with a century-old Jinshan baby wrap displayed on its walls, symbolizing the renewal of an old neighborhood. The local community eagerly hopes that through creative reuse of this building, new vitality can be injected into this historic settlement. The checkered fabric known as "Huapei," composed of black, white, and gray patterns, is a cultural hallmark exclusive to the Huan Men region. Locally, in traditional rituals and customs, the Huapei is used in events such as weddings, births, and celebrations. Specifically, during wedding rituals, bride's families must prepare Huapei as an essential dowry. Furthermore, in puppet plays performed during ceremonies such as weddings, coming-of-age events, and the birthday of the Celestial Emperor, pieces of Huapei cloth are also used as offerings to bless the event and seek protection and gratitude. Thus, the emergence of the Huapei House itself carries profound symbolic meaning of bringing blessings to the community. If you happen to be in the area, be sure to capture some memorable photos!
