Behind Lingjiao Station stands the Tsai Family Western-style House, a beautiful red-brick building. Sharp-eyed visitors may notice that many TV dramas have been filmed here. With its arched arcade and spacious courtyard, one can easily imagine the dashing gentlemen in slicked-back hair and the ladies in qipaos who might once have lived inside—perfect for recreating nostalgic scenes from the 1930s and 40s.
Many take the train to Pingxi, racing past Lingjiao Station without a second glance. Step off at Lingjiao, however, and a short walk through the mountain town brings you to the red-brick Tsai Family Western-style House. Its rounded arcade, turtle-emerging balcony, and open courtyard invite you to imagine its former glory. A loop of the town’s footpaths takes less than an hour; nearby, an old bridge and waterfall can be reached by a small path that continues on to Pingxi.
