高雄市前金區中正四路261號
For a century, Kaohsiung has been a critical hub for industrial development, and the Processing Export Zone played a pivotal role in creating Taiwan's economic miracle. With abundant labor force and a rich, diverse labor culture, the city has cultivated a unique local character and identity as an industrial metropolis. To preserve and share this precious economic history and labor cultural heritage, in 2009, the only national labor museum in Taiwan was established in Kaohsiung at the Rouge Two Art District. Dedicated to collecting, researching, preserving, and maintaining cultural assets and historical materials related to labor issues both domestically and internationally, the museum promotes public understanding of the life stories and cultural values of Taiwan workers through interactive exhibitions, educational programs, publications, and diverse artistic performances. In July 2015, the labor museum relocated to No. 261, Chung Cheng 4th Road, Qianjin District, reopening with a new format. A prominent sculpture of a worker wearing a safety helmet and gripping a double-ended wrench stands at the entrance, while the mosaic wall at the entry features laborers crafted from ceramic tiles. Inside the museum, permanent exhibitions such as "Traces of Sweat" and "Ship Transmissions" offer interactive experiences, along with special exhibitions and collections that explore labor-related issues. This vibrant space gathers, presents, and exchanges workers' stories, serving as a key site for understanding Kaohsiung's cultural and economic development.
