高雄市前鎮區漁港中一路2號地下一樓
Kaohsiung, as the cradle of our country’s distant‑water fisheries, boasts over 3,000 fishing vessels with a total gross tonnage of more than 560,000 tonnes. Annually, it harvests over 700,000 tonnes of fishery products, accounting for 50% of Taiwan’s total fishery production, underscoring Kaohsiung City’s vital contribution to the nation’s fishing industry. The Fisheries Cultural Museum was established to enhance public understanding of Kaohsiung’s fishing sector, fostering interest in its development and heritage. The museum is divided into thematic zones such as distant‑water trawling, near‑shore fisheries, aquaculture processing, fish farming, fishery conservation and utilization, as well as dedicated squid and tuna cultural galleries. Through realistic photographs and multimedia, visitors learn about marine fisheries, allowing both the public and future generations to better appreciate and connect with Kaohsiung’s life‑supporting industry. The museum’s opening also integrates the former Qianzhen Fishing Port Direct‑Sale Center and Qianzhen Fish Market, providing a space for fishery knowledge, leisure, and a platform for fisheries education, culture, and tourism.
