Situated approximately 4.5 kilometers west of Dongji Islet, Xiji Islet is also part of the "South Islets National Park." The western and northern sides of the islet feature basalt cliffs with prominent columnar jointing, stretching for hundreds of meters in a spectacular display. It is also designated as the "South Sea Basalt Nature Reserve." The residents relocated en masse in 1978, and the islet is now uninhabited; landing on the island requires prior application. Although many of the buildings have deteriorated, the village structure remains clearly visible. Visitors can see the ruins of the Xiji Temple, the spiritual center of the island, and four stone pagodas built to ward off evil spirits. In the past, to withstand the northeastern monsoon winds, vegetable gardens were constructed from basalt on the northern side of the village. Although the village has been abandoned for a long time, the former residents of Xiji Islet, now living elsewhere, reunite on the island for a few days each year during major festivals like Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, bringing their descendants on a journey to explore their roots. The most famous attraction on Xiji Islet is the sea-eroded cave on the northwest side of the island. Locals commonly refer to it as the "Kitchen Basket" due to its shape. The water inside shimmers with a sapphire-like hue due to sunlight refraction, earning it the additional name of "Blue Cave." The eastern and southern sides of the island are primarily rocky shores, while the northeastern intertidal zone features rock formations eroded by seawater, creating pothole-like landscapes or expanding into "tide pools," both of which are notable geological features of Xiji Islet.
