Qingtian 76

2018-07-16
The city-designated historic site - Ma Tingying's former residence, located at No. 6, Lane 7, Qingtian Street, Taipei City, was built in the 1930s as a Japanese-style professor's residence. A group of National Taiwan University alumni, driven by the enthusiasm to do something for NTU, established an exhibition hall for science popularization education and initiated cultural and artistic guided tours. Qingtian Street No. 6, which belongs to NTU's assets, is operated by the Golden Seed Culture Company, with the alumni obtaining the right to use it through a leasing model, and maintaining it at their own expense. It provides free natural science guided tours for various organizations in the morning, and offers services such as light meals, coffee, and tea after noon. Executive Director Wu Wenxiong said that he hopes the historic site can be used as a space for general family activities, allowing people to easily approach this building and the land, and gain knowledge of natural science. Hsu Chao-cheng, the cultural director of Golden Seed Culture Company (also known as "Water Bottle"), said emotionally that he hopes this old house that "breathes" can allow everyone to tell stories here and spark more inspiration. From the Japanese era to the time when the Kuomintang government came to Taiwan, the stories from before and after the war are as numerous as stars. What we want to convey is the beautiful story woven by this old house and the "people" within it. Qingtian 76 hopes to become a model for urban renewal. It doesn't need to be completely rebuilt before being utilized. Instead, it maintains the old atmosphere of the historic site through repairs, and operates it with the spirit of using cultural heritage as it is. It needs more friends' care and visits. If you come to Qingtian 76, please slow down, quietly observe the surroundings, and enjoy the different cicada sounds through the wind through the tree branches, under the sunshine or beside the raindrops.
