"Arthas" is one of the protagonists of the computer game Warcraft® series, published by the U.S. company Blizzard Entertainment. He is also one of the most beloved heroes in Blizzard Legends®. In the story, his difficult choices made to protect the people give his life dramatic tension that many players love, making him the most popular and highly regarded character in the Warcraft series. On the day Arthas Menethil was born, the entire forest of Doradrin whispered his name. He was destined to write a legendary page full of brilliance and to stir a wave that shook all of Azeroth. In 2016, marking Blizzard Entertainment’s 25th anniversary, a special statue of Arthas (4.6 m tall, 2.1 m wide, total height including pedestal 4.5 m, weighing 1,814 kg) was installed in Taiwan to give back to Taiwanese and Asian players. It is also Blizzard Entertainment’s first outdoor installation open to the public. The designer, Steve Wang (Wang Sunjie), is a Hollywood special‑effects sculptor and film producer born in Taipei who immigrated to the United States at nine. This massive project mobilized 30 workers and took over a thousand hours of production (over nine months). With superb craftsmanship and meticulous design, Arthas comes to life, standing majestically on the Grass-Walking Path, creating a unique cultural landmark for citizens and visitors alike. The Arthas statue is located on the southern section of the Grass-Walking Path, a downtown landscape that runs from the National Museum of Natural Science to the Art Garden Road, creating a more complete and coherent humanistic artistic atmosphere. It offers international tourists a different travel experience, deeply promoting local cultural characteristics, while Taichung actively connects with the global context to shape a new look that combines Eastern roots and Western colors.
