The Gongyuan Eye Clinic, built in 1927, was founded by Japanese ophthalmologist Dr. Gongyuan Take熊 and was the largest eye clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial era. After Japan's defeat in 1945, Dr. Gongyuan returned to Japan, and the clinic became the Taichung Health Center. However, as time passed, the old health center gradually fell into disrepair and became a hazardous building, especially after being severely damaged in the 921 earthquake, leaving it a overgrown ruin. It wasn't until the "Sunrise" team spent a year and a half, working with two architects and a doctor of ancient monument restoration, that the modern-day Sunrise Gongyuan Eye Clinic was rebuilt. Preserving old buildings with historical significance is a challenging task, but under the creative and diligent efforts of the "Sunrise" team, the Taichung Gongyuan Eye Clinic not only retains the charm of the old house but also evokes a sense of historical nostalgia after renovation.
