Taking the concept of a tree as the main design theme
Cultivating talents in Taiwanese clothing design
Located in the culturally rich Wanhua area, "Xiyuan 29 Clothing Creation Base" was once well known as the Taipei Clothing Culture Museum. Now, as a new landmark for the clothing industry's creativity, with the nearby Wanhua clothing business area (Dali clothing business area) as its base, it has been transformed into a three-story fashion base.
The entire building has a red brick exterior, and the overall design of the building is centered on the concept of a "tree," expecting to become a creative tree that absorbs the historical and cultural landscape of the Wanhua area, cultivating talents in Taiwanese clothing design, and spreading its branches and leaves to nourish the Wanhua clothing business area. It also mediates between the Wanhua business area's merchants and the designers stationed at the base, establishing exemplary collaborative design cases, revitalizing the Taiwanese clothing and clothing design industry, promoting the reputation of the Taiwanese brand and design power, and pushing it onto the international stage.
Cooperating with schools and cultivating emerging designers is also one of the main tasks of "Xiyuan 29 Clothing Creation Base." Currently, in addition to opening up for college and university faculty and students to book visits and tours, during the summer vacation, it also cooperates with schools to offer internships, allowing students to understand the connection between design and the marketing market, as well as the overall clothing industry ecosystem in Taiwan by actually participating in the operation and management of the base and the cooperation activities with designers and the Wanhua clothing business area. At the same time, it also plans to offer courses on fashion trends or professional exhibition analysis, introducing new fashion information, and striving to cultivate design talents in Taiwan.
A great place to find design inspiration
Designers are stationed here to express their creativity
Walking into the first floor lobby, it is built on a pure white base, aiming to create a sensory fashion information space, like a fashion stage that highlights the beautiful works of designers. There is a coffee bar in the corner, where visitors can sit comfortably and have a cup of coffee, enjoy the fashion pieces full of design sense, read design-related books, and find inspiration that belongs to themselves.
If you want to learn more about "Xiyuan 29 Clothing Creation Base," the cultural and historical development of the Wanhua area, or the personal information, creative styles, or works of the stationed designers, there are also excellent videos playing on the first floor, which help visitors quickly extract rich information in a short time. There is also an interactive screen, allowing visitors to use a controller similar to a Wii, to interact with the screen, enhancing their understanding of the designers.
The second floor is the designers' mobile work platform, including the designers' studios, which are not open to the public on a daily basis. This is the source of creativity, with a pattern-making space and various types of accessories provided, offering designers free space to express their creativity and demonstrate their abilities, creating clothing pieces that can be considered as works of art. Currently, there are five designers stationed here: Hsu Yu-chu, Tseng Wei-hsiang, Ko Sheng-chung, Lu Hsueh-cheng, and Shih Yu-lin. In the future, it will also select emerging clothing designers with international market potential each year to be stationed here.
The third floor has a space suitable for small-scale fashion shows, exhibitions, and lectures, with thick carpets and curtains, providing good sound insulation. To make the space more diverse and lively, there are tracks installed on the ceiling, and movable panel clips are used to create the required space. The arrangement of the track space is designed as a street map of the Wanhua area. The back area of the exhibition space has a model changing room. In the future, it also welcomes design-related departments to rent the space for lectures, courses, or fashion exhibitions.
