Dongshi Township is home to the famous wetland - Aogu Wetland, as well as the renowned "Eight Scenic Spots of Dongshi" and delicious, fresh oysters. In recent years, it has become a well-known domestic tourist destination. The Aogu Wetland Ecological Exhibition Hall was opened in 2011, focusing on human history, natural ecology, and other materials, fully showcasing the local cultural connotation, allowing local culture to take root and grow. With the natural ecological culture of Dongshi Township as the theme, it creates a "one ecological, one cultural" space. The permanent exhibition on the 2nd floor, "Seeing the Rhythm of Nature," won the Japan GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2023 and the 2023 American Muse Creative Award Platinum Award. Using bird ecology and local humanistic materials, it is divided into six major units: Flowing Land, Migratory Bird Travel, and Aogu New Life. The exhibition allows visitors to immerse themselves in the bird ecology, just like visiting the Aogu Wetland. The exhibition hall also provides the most complete information on eating, drinking, playing, and enjoying in Dongshi Township, connecting community scenic spots with classic tours such as watching migratory birds, visiting the Puchizi River, and the Outer Umbrella Island. With ecological and leisure tourism, it gives new vitality to the quiet rural fishing village.
