桃園市龜山區復興一路8號3樓
Creating a comfortable artistic and cultural corner for the city, offering a rare sense of relaxation to visitors, is the main reason the A8 Art & Culture Center has attracted over 10,000 visitors within just one year of its establishment. Located on the third floor of a co-constructed building at the Long庚 Hospital Station of the Taipei Metro, the A8 Art & Culture Center sits near the Universal Shopping Mall, Long庚 General Hospital, and Formose Hotel. With a space of approximately 100 pings, it centers around contemporary art and local culture, spreading the beauty of refined living through diverse methods including exhibitions, cultural activities, workshops, and lectures. Like the opening exhibition “Opening the Door to Local Heritage,” the A8 Art & Culture Center is dedicated to promoting local culture, making every exhibition deeply embedded with local elements. The collaboration between the art project “Art Journey through Heritage” and “Tea Seed Hall,” as well as printmaker Ru Ran, has profoundly highlighted the Kueishan bitter tea culture. Through exhibitions like “Urban Stories & New Memories,” the local community experiences nostalgia for hometown by interacting with mundane items such as yellowed photos, railway tickets, and posters of small shops. The exhibition “Different from the Rest” invited illustrators to narrate the stories of military dormitories, capturing time permanently on canvas. Beyond being a new cultural highlight of the region, the A8 Art & Culture Center also emphasizes promoting family-friendly art and culture. Therefore, exhibitions like “Opening the Door to Local Heritage” and “Wandering Wildly” feature thematic picture books displayed by independent bookstores, creating quality family reading time. Moreover, a variety of hands-on activities—ranging from branch-pen sketching, portrait illustration, and printmaking coloring—have been designed to stimulate children’s imagination. By practicing the belief that art knows no age, these activities aim to help children deeply experience and appreciate the cultural landscape of the city they inhabit.
