"The Hexing Coal Mine" is hidden near the Taipei Cihui Temple, adjacent to the old Bi Creek. In the past, large amounts of coal waste were piled up due to coal mining, making the geological conditions relatively fragile. Later, it was renovated and integrated with the old mining area by the Bi Creek, creating an overall environmental improvement. Combining the local natural scenery and the characteristics of the mining area, it has been transformed into a regional highlight, providing a new leisure and recreation spot.
Starting from the entrance of the park, you can walk into the "Time Tunnel" along the red brick floor and the mine cart track imagery. Along the way, you can enjoy realistic mine cart exiting imagery and the "Life of Coal" ceramic mural depicting the process of coal formation to the production of products. At the end of the tunnel is the "Spiral Staircase." If you are lucky, you might see many bats hanging upside down to rest at the old coal mine's discharge port.
Walking along the path with mine cart track imagery, you can feel the local cultural history, as if you have traveled back in time to the Japanese colonial period. The interpretive facilities and imagery along the way make the past scenes vividly come back to life. It is recommended that you visit "Hexing Coal Mine" during the holidays to experience the unique charm of the old mining area in the Xinyi District.
