Located in Jinsha Township, Yan-tse Old Street used to be a military stronghold occupied by the Eastern Defense Command and a popular entertainment and shopping destination for military personnel. Back in the day, this bustling commercial street had movie theaters, pool halls, bathhouses, and barbershops. However, as troops withdrew, Yan-tse Old Street gradually declined. Later, Yan-tse Old Street experienced a revival when the movie "Joyful Soldiers" was filmed there, reconstructing the historical setting of Kinmen during the 1960s and blending local culture with battlefield elements, completing this touching memory of the harmonious bond between soldiers and civilians. This film received great honors such as the Busan International Film Festival's opening film award, best supporting actress and best supporting actor awards at the 51st Golden Horse Awards, and was selected for the Panorama section at the 65th Berlin Film Festival. After filming, the Kinmen County Government preserved the film's set scenes and simultaneously integrated community and youth start-ups, resulting in the gradual influx of many unique shops into Yan-tse Street. The area now transports visitors back in time to Kinmen's past, gradually forming a commercial district model that revives community vitality, youth entrepreneurship, and tourism, making this scene of Yan-tse even more popular and creating a significant tourist phenomenon, becoming one of the popular check-in hotspots for young people. Built in 1950, Jin-Dong Theater was established by Mr. Chang Hsiang-chuan, the then mayor of Taipei City Council, to entertain Kinmen's frontline officers. It served as a recreation and entertainment facility for soldiers and brought great popularity to Yan-tse Street, prompting the appearance of barbershops, pool halls, and bathhouses. After decades, following renovations Jin-Dong Theater still preserved the 1950s atmosphere, vividly evoking the memory of its former prosperity.
