Wanshan Tribe is located along Highway 132 in Maolin District. After passing the Maolin District Office for about 7 kilometers, you will arrive at the entrance of Wanshan Tribe. During the Japanese colonial period, Wanshan Village was called "Mandaulan" Tribe. The original settlement was located at an altitude of 1475 meters under Mt. Wanutulan. It was once the most remote tribe in Maolin District. The tribe called it "Oupunphuo". The old Wanshan still maintains a complete slate house settlement and holds a mysterious group of rock carvings "Gubajia’s Mysterious Love Story". Due to the treacherous roads, the villagers moved to the current settlement collectively in 1956. It is recommended to stay for about 30-40 minutes. You can visit the slate houses below the tribe, the Catholic Church, and other scenic spots on your own.
