The Geographic Center Monument of Taiwan was first erected during the Japanese colonial period. In 1952, it was relocated to the summit of Huzi Mountain, and in 1972 the site was developed into a beautiful park. The monument was rebuilt again in 1979. The late President Chiang Ching-kuo inscribed the four characters "Shan Qing Shui Xiu" (Beautiful Mountains and Clear Waters) upon it. Climbing the stairs behind the monument leads to the top of Huzi Mountain, where one can gaze over the surrounding mountains and feel a profound sense of tranquility and remoteness—a perfect spot to admire Puli’s nightscape.
