Flower-viewing information: Shima Park is home to more than 300 Kawazu cherry trees that bloom from mid-January to mid-February. During this period, simply follow Yanxi Highway toward Lugu Township, Ren’ai Road (Provincial Highway 56) past the Phoenix Valley Bird Park, National Taiwan University Experimental Forest, Fenghuang Elementary School, and the Xiaobantian area to enjoy a dazzling display of colorful cherry blossoms. In addition to its famous cherry-tree walkway, NTU’s Experimental Forest also boasts breathtaking camellia blossoms that have even won awards. The flowers are so exuberant that they’re well worth lingering over and savoring slowly.
