苗栗縣南庄鄉3鄰東江29之3號
The garden was established in 1978, and its establishment has a story behind it. Over twenty years ago, the renowned Chinese painter, Zhang Daqian, visited Nanzhuang but was disappointed not to see any plum blossoms. This sparked the owner's determination to plant plum blossoms. Although Zhang Daqian did not live to see the plum blossoms bloom in Nanzhuang, the owner gained valuable experience in planting plum blossoms and transformed the garden into a place that combines nature, human culture, and art. The garden covers an area of about 0.6 hectares, with over 20 varieties of plum blossoms, including rare species like the hundred-year-old red plum and the golden-thread垂梅. The garden also features many exquisite potted plum blossoms. Every year from December to March, during the plum blossom season, the garden is filled with beautiful blossoms, making it a stunning sight. Visitors can not only admire the plum blossoms but also enjoy plum blossom tea, made from the buds of the plum blossoms, which has a unique flavor and is a perfect beverage. Besides the plum blossom season, the garden also features cherry blossoms, tung flowers, lotus, maple leaves, and osmanthus, which bloom in different seasons, making the garden a place of changing beauty throughout the year. In addition to the outdoor plum blossoms, the garden has a museum that collects many paintings, calligraphy, and artifacts related to plum blossoms and Bodhidharma, as well as ancient artifacts from the early mining and forestry industries in Nanzhuang. The museum offers irregular exhibitions, adding a cultural and artistic touch to the plum garden.
