The Daxi Cuo Water Environment Education Park was originally a wasteland next to the Ziwen Temple in Daxi Village. Through the Executive Yuan's forward-looking plan - the Water Environment Improvement Plan, which was approved for the water quality improvement and waterfront environment reconstruction project, it not only provides environmental education but also has the functions of improving water quality and nurturing ecology. The park covers an area of 0.65 hectares and features an underground gravel contact aeration oxidation ditch with a daily treatment capacity of 3,000 tons. This system utilizes naturally occurring microorganisms in the water to decompose pollutants. After treating domestic sewage, it can reduce biochemical oxygen demand by 66.1%, suspended solids by 79%, and ammonia nitrogen by 85%. This natural purification method differs from traditional sewage treatment plants that use coagulation and sedimentation, as it does not require the addition of chemicals and is extremely environmentally friendly. The Daxi Cuo Water Environment Education Park uses natural purification methods to improve water quality and develops environmental experiential teaching with local cultural and historical characteristics, water purification, and ecological creation. This encourages the public to enhance their environmental awareness, ethics, and responsibility, ultimately constructing an inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable city. The park is equipped with sports facilities such as basketball, badminton, and tennis courts, as well as children's play equipment, environmental education classrooms, artificial wetlands, and bird-watching pavilions. It is the first multi-functional venue in Chiayi City that combines water quality purification, ecological conservation, environmental education, and leisure recreation. Moreover, the park is located on the cycling route from the city to the flower sea, making it a suitable place for a visit.
