金門縣893金城鎮西海路2號
The Fisheries Research Institute of Kinmen County was established in 1968 to support fisheries development. It engages in research and trials for the cultivation of economically significant fish and shellfish, fish disease prevention, marine resources, ecological environment surveys, foundational fisheries research, development of aquatic food products, and provides technical advisory services. Within the园区, the Horseshoe Crab Ecological Cultural Pavilion displays marine species collected from Kinmen’s waters and traditional aquaculture models. It mainly showcases the horseshoe crab—400-million-year-old "living fossil"—a rare and beautiful creature whose mated pairs remain inseparable for life, earning it the nicknames of "marriage fish" and "lovebird fish." The Horseshoe Crab Ecological Cultural Pavilion features a film, "Encountering the Living Fossil Horseshoe Crab," for viewing, while visitors can also observe horseshoe crab ecological behaviors up close. It sells horseshoe crab-themed merchandise, such as plush toys of male and female pairs of horseshoe crabs, symbolizing couples’ enduring love and a happy family, bringing good luck and joyous prosperity to families. Its Tu-Tou-Pai ceramic artworks with horseshoe crab elements signify endless generations and unbroken life continuation, symbolizing warding off evil and attracting blessings. Welcome to visit Kinmen County Fisheries Research Institute and experience a beautiful encounter with these ancient organisms unique to Kinmen.
