The Temple of the Earth Mother was founded in the 34th year of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing dynasty. After several renovations, it was completely rebuilt in 1969, achieving its present scale. The main hall enshrines the Supreme Earth Mother; the side walls are carved and painted with tales of her miracles in saving all beings, and the caisson ceiling above is exquisitely crafted and uniquely designed.
In front of the temple stands the “Bagua Palm-Earth Nine-Dragon Pond.” Nine colorful clay dragons, centered on the bagua pool, rise from pillar tops to support a globe. Atop the sphere sit the Earth Mother and the bagua diagram, symbolizing her supreme status.
