As I walked up to the door of Shan Ku, I suddenly had an epiphany - this old house was none other than the former Chiu Qiu Da Fan Dian. Finally, a new store had moved in, and it was a uniquely styled and aesthetically pleasing women's clothing store. The owner, who had relocated from Hsinchu to Chiayi and opened a store, had a background in advertising design and a passion for collecting beautiful things, particularly fashion and dressing up herself and others. To satisfy this interest, she worked in a clothing store for many years after becoming a mother, accumulating experience without forgetting her dream of owning her own clothing store. Due to her longing for a more relaxed life in southern Taiwan, when the time was ripe to open her store, she searched for a suitable location in Tainan and Chiayi. Because of her fondness for old wooden houses, she eventually settled in Chiayi, fortunately surrounded by areas filled with cultural and historical significance, such as the Hinoki Village, City God Temple, and Dong Market, which added to the "story background" of the old house. The store's name, "Shan Ku," is a Taiwanese Hokkien homophone for "shan ku," meaning clothes. The store mainly sells women's clothing, with product lines including Japanese, Korean, and international styles, as well as a small selection of vintage clothing. The back of the store is planned as a photo studio, where the owner serves as photographer, stylist, and model, presenting her personal sense of beauty through photos on the store's social media page. Because the old house is so beautiful, many customers have encouraged the owner to set up an afternoon tea area, which may lead to a diversified business model in the future.
