Xiaoguangshan Mountain is located within the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, with an elevation of 2,488 meters. It was originally known as "Wansui Mountain". In October 1904, the Taiwan Governor-General's Office survey team conducted a preliminary investigation of the area. To commemorate the contributions of survey team member and Chiayi Prefecture Governor, Fujiro Ogasawara, the area was renamed "Ogasawara Mountain". In November 2005, an observation platform on the mountain was rebuilt and has since become a popular spot to enjoy the magnificent scenery of Alishan. From the platform, one can gaze out at the vast mountain ranges. In the early morning, visitors can witness the sunrise and feel the golden sunlight spreading across the mountaintops. At dusk, one can admire the beautiful scene of the setting sun and rosy clouds interweaving, with changing light and shadows like a poetic painting. Moreover, under the night sky, Ogasawara Mountain is a paradise for stargazers, with a starry night sky that makes people feel carefree and joyful. This centennial-old mountain peak, rich in natural landscapes and historical significance, is one of the new eight scenic spots in Alishan. Every traveler can find a piece of tranquility and inspiration here.
