南投縣魚池鄉文正巷1-22號
Hands-On Kiln is located along Provincial Highway 21 heading from Sun Moon Lake to Puli, on the right side of the road. Its exterior exudes a distinctive tropical style. Strolling around the园区(grounds) and appreciating the architecture and installations, one can sense the spontaneity and creativity of the owner. The rugged wooden carvings and rustic charm capture the primitive atmosphere. The layout and design of the exhibition area and restaurant seem to be casually conceived by the owner—everything feels spontaneously arranged. Walking through the complex offers a carefree, un拘束 experience. Visitors can pay NT$150 to roll up their sleeves and joyfully try pottery wheel-throwing. For families, it's a delightful experience. The name "Hands-On Kiln"—beautiful and amiable—was invented by the owner, Wu Tsuzing, at 4 a.m. on the day of its opening. He woke his wife to seek her opinion, and thus the Hands-On Kiln in Zhongming Village was founded. The former home of the Wu family was originally an information center for Zhongming Community and also served as the venue for Hands-On Kiln pottery. Every brick and tile of this complex was built by hand by Mr. Wu. It includes a pottery classroom, a two-story house, guesthouses, as well as a suspension bridge and pavilions. A wooden carving on the main building narrates Mr. Wu's story of growing up in a fish-selling family and evolving toward his present-day achievements.
