Kelingzhen, built in 1941, was originally an official residence constructed for the Zhongli District Office by the Zhongli Housha United Association. During the Japanese colonial era, the building was inhabited by families of Taiwanese police officers. After the war, it bore witness to the Zhongli Incident, becoming a milestone in Taiwan's democratic development. In 2012, Taoyuan City Government's Department of Cultural Affairs designated it as a historic building. Following a comprehensive investigation, research, planning, design, and restoration process, the site officially opened in 2019. Through exhibitions and lecture activities, Kelingzhen has become a cultural salon in the Zhongli area, passing on local knowledge and addressing social issues.
