Located at the border of Sanzhi and Shimen Districts, the natural geological landscape of Linyansbi (Lîn-sanbí) has become a filming location for the movie "Secret" and other productions. One scene in the movie shows the male lead escorting the female lead home, which was filmed on the Linyansbi Recreational Area's cycling path. Many tourists visit this area to find this beautiful path, which features stunning ocean views, especially when the breeze blows through the Casuarina trees and the sea wind stirs up the silver waves. The reality TV show "Let's Get Down to Business" also chose Linyansbi as its main filming location, transforming an old house into a vibrant restaurant that has attracted many fans to visit.
The area features unique geological formations, including the "wind-edge stones" (or feng-ling shi), which are characteristic of the Linyansbi coastline. These stones are formed from andesite rocks that have been eroded by the sea and wind, resulting in flat surfaces and sharp edges. The constant wind and sand have sculpted the rocks into unique shapes, creating a striking landscape.
According to geological records, around 800,000 years ago, the Zhuzi volcano in the Datun volcanic group erupted, and the lava flowed into the sea, forming two distinct landforms - Linyansbi and Fuguijiao. Linyansbi is one of Taiwan's northernmost capes and a popular tourist destination.
Another notable feature of Linyansbi is its algae reefs, which are a rare and unique geological formation. These reefs are formed when algae grow on rocks, creating multiple layers of thin, limestone-like structures. This phenomenon can only be observed in northern Taiwan's coastal areas.
Visitors to Linyansbi can explore the rocky coastline, observe the diverse intertidal zone ecosystem, and enjoy the beautiful white sand. With proper planning and equipment, visitors can also experience the thrill of exploring the tidal zone and interacting with the ocean.
