新北市烏來區烏來街12號
Wulai used to be a living tribe of the Atayal people, the true owners of Wulai. The establishment of the Atayal National Museum in Wulai, the only mountainous district in New Taipei City, is of great significance. The carefully planned exhibitions showcase the food, clothing, and living conditions of the Atayal people, as well as their cultural philosophy, making the Atayal National Museum a comprehensive introduction to the history and life of the Atayal people. The first floor exhibits the origins, migration, hunting, and other cultural relics of the Atayal people, as well as the natural ecology of the Wulai area. The second floor introduces the tradition of facial tattoos, which is a crucial ritual in Atayal culture, only eligible for men and women with hunting and weaving skills, and who have the right to marry. The third floor showcases the daily utensils and traditional crafts of the Atayal people. On holidays, you can watch the song and dance performances of the local Atayal people and participate in DIY course activities such as glass bead stringing, Atayal weaving, and bracelet making.
