The century-old stone terraces located in the Guanghua (Top Benzi) area of Zhuqi Township, Chiayi County, are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the early settlers in Top Benzi. These terraces were built by the early residents in order to cultivate crops on the slopes. The perimeter and outer walls of each field were constructed by stacking raw stones, with the goal of consolidating the soil, preventing soil erosion, and providing stable farmland. After a century of weathering, these stone terraces remain sturdy, showcasing the wisdom and perseverance of the early settlers. Today, these terraces are still used by local villagers to grow a variety of crops.
