高雄市甲仙區和安村四德巷10號之10
Located in the northeastern part of Kaohsiung City, Jiaxian District is renowned not only for its abundant taro and bamboo shoots, but also for its geological makeup, which is almost entirely composed of seabed sedimentary rocks. The entire area boasts nine major fossil sites, and the nearby Nansi Xianxi offers a direct fossil-collecting experience, making it a true fossil playground. This unique geographical context has also led to the establishment of the Jiaxian Fossil Museum. The museum’s primary exhibits showcase the fossilized fish and mollusk ecosystems of Taiwan’s inland sea. The displays are divided into four main sections: the Jiaxian Wengrong Spirorchiidae Fossil Hall, local Jiaxian fossils, fossils from various regions of Taiwan sorted by age, and world fossils. With a collection of over 6,000 pieces, the museum has become an iconic local professional museum, possessing significant academic and tourism value. For those who enjoy appreciating and studying fossil relics, the Jiaxian Fossil Museum is a must-visit attraction.
