In the Qing Dynasty, the opening of trade ports in Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Ningbo, and Shanghai marked the beginning of China's customs system, making a significant contribution to modernization. The first floor of the museum consists of the customs clearance area, the anti-smuggling area, and the maritime lighthouse area. In the maritime lighthouse area, you can see model lighthouses from all over Taiwan. There is no other country in the world that manages lighthouses through its customs. The anti-smuggling area exhibits illegal items seized by the customs in different periods. The customs clearance area showcases cultural relics used for customs clearance in different periods. The second floor consists of the customs cultural relics area and the international customs affairs area. The customs cultural relics area displays customs uniforms, branding irons, old photographs, and more. The international customs affairs area exhibits uniforms and cultural relics of customs from different countries. The Customs Museum houses a safe, a Buddhist stupa, boundary stones, an alcohol pot, a snuff bottle, customs bills, a precision astronomical clock, a warning bell, and stalactites, all of which have historical value and are worth visiting.
