Evergreen Maritime Museum

2024-04-11
The establishment of the Evergreen Maritime Museum is a long-held wish of Mr. Chang Yung-fa, chairman of the Evergreen Group, who hopes to express the deep emotional bond between the chairman and the ocean, as well as to promote maritime education in Taiwan. This is a museum themed around maritime matters, suitable for people of all generations and ethnic groups to visit. The museum has a large collection of various types of model ships, ranging from the dugout canoes built by ancient humans, to the various sailing ships, steam-powered ships, and workboats developed in the West; there are also bamboo rafts showcasing the island life of Taiwan, as well as the King's boats with religious significance. In addition, the museum also exhibits numerous paintings with the ocean as the background, spanning from the 18th to the 20th century. From war scenes with flames and smoke to the shimmering reflections of sails on the sea, one can appreciate the distinctive ocean views depicted by painters of different eras. Moreover, the Evergreen Maritime Museum also has a maritime exploration area. With the help of navigation instruments and multimedia interactive displays, visitors can experience the knowledge related to seafaring.
