The Postal Museum was established on December 1, 1965 (the 54th year of the Republic of China). It was officially opened to the public on March 20, 1966, the 70th anniversary celebration of the Republic of China Post. At that time, it was set up by making some repairs to the old office building of the Postal General Office in Sintien. Due to its remote location, small building, and planned road passing through it, which prevented expansion, the development of the museum was greatly restricted. In order to align with the national cultural construction and the development of the postal service, a 10-story building was constructed in Taipei City, located in Nanhai Campus, and it was completed and put into use on the National Day of 1984.
