The southernmost point of the Matsu Islands. From the Dapu village, looking southward, there is an isolated island not far from the coastline, called "Lin Ao Island." It is one of the three small islands surrounding Dongju Island and marks the southernmost point of the Matsu Islands. Unlike the Western Ox Island to the north, which connects to Dongju Island via an intertidal zone during low tide, Lin Ao Island remains perpetually separated from Dongju Island by seawater and never forms a direct link.
Lin Ao Island is renowned for its peculiar rock formations and abundant plant resources. According to botanical surveys conducted by ecological experts, the evergreen shrubs growing naturally on the island possess high ornamental value. Additionally, scattered among the boulders lie myths and legends in the guise of the rugged cliffs. Visits to the island are currently restricted and not open to the public. Only a few fishermen occasionally venture to Lin Ao Island for fishing activities, designating it as one of the key fishing spots near Dongju Island and a sought-after location among local angling enthusiasts.
As one of the county-designated natural landmarks within the Matsu Geopark. Due to its unique geological features and rich plant ecology, Lin Ao Island was officially designated a County-Designated Natural Landmark in 2018 and has become one of ten significant areas within the Matsu Geopark.
