Mountain Water Wetland, on behalf of the educational garden, was awarded the highest honor of the 2012 National Excellence Construction Award and the Best Environmental Culture Excellence Award. At the entrance of the Mountain Water Wetland is a stone plaque installed by the county government titled “Mountain Water Wetland Park.” The wetland contains many halophytes, such as the sea urchin‑like *Bermuda grass*.
The wetland area is located on the west side of the Mountain Water area, covering about 1.7 hectares. It adopts a gradual lowering method for the height of the western dike of the Mountain Water, as well as infilling and slope covering with vegetation on both sides of the dike. This is the “hidden dike” concept, connecting the wetland inside and outside the dike, so that the entire scenic area becomes an integrated wetland ecosystem and landscape combining aquatic, wet, and dry plants.
The wetland scenery outside the seawall, with its vast coastal sand and wetland landscape, is the hallmark of Penghu Mountain Water’s wetland character. In winter it often attracts many migratory birds that live in wetland environments. In addition to providing habitats for flora and fauna, Mountain Water Wetland Park also plans for trails, viewing platforms, and other facilities, allowing visitors to view the sea, watch birds, and enjoy the sunset, while linking with the Mountain Water 30‑meter highland park. 【Suggested visit duration】 1 hour
