As the spring equinox approaches on March 20th, the sun awakens the earth, and Taipei's climate gradually warms up, making it a time of lush greenery and blossoms in full bloom. In the Hushan community on Yangming Mountain, rhododendrons and camellias are in full bloom, along with late-blooming cherry blossoms, creating a beautiful and vibrant scene of red and green. The Taipei City Department of Public Works' Geotechnical Engineering Office suggests that people should take advantage of this springtime to embark on a flower-viewing and nostalgic trip.
For transportation to the Hushan community, it is recommended to take the MRT Beitou Line to Beitou Station and transfer to Bus No. 9, or take Bus No. 8 from Shipai Station. After arriving at Yangming Mountain, get off at the Second Parking Lot stop. First, stroll through the Rhododendron and Camellia Garden, and enjoy the flower paths woven with rhododendrons and camellias. Then, walk down the stairs to the 40th Artillery Position, which was a military fortress during the period of martial law, used to protect the Cao Shan Villa. After the Geotechnical Engineering Office renovated it, it now features a 3D color painting exhibition that portrays the past military garrison scenes, evoking nostalgia among many veterans.
Next, walk through the path that was rebuilt from the "Tuo Pao Road" and reach the "Huangxia Platform" to enjoy the view of the undulating green hills. It is especially recommended to visit the platform between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. every day in March, where you can enjoy the "Guanyin Sunset" in the distance, as the Guanyin Mountain turns golden and presents a dreamlike, enchanting scenery.
Following the Hushan Road, then Hudi Road, you will reach the "Windstone Platform," and then enter the Hengling Ancient Trail to reach the quiet "Fengxiang Sisters Tree Platform." Then, walk through the Hudi Path to enter the Hudi community, exploring the rural scenery such as the century-old soapberry tree, osmanthus tree, and old houses. Finally, walk up the Hudi Path to reach the Liu Ku Bus Stop and take Bus No. 36 back to the Shipai Station of the MRT Beitou Line.
The Geotechnical Engineering Office recommends that people make full use of public transportation or climb up via the hiking trails, which is both healthy and environmentally friendly, and also avoids the trouble of finding a parking spot.
