The Dream Lake is located on the southeast slope of Qixing Mountain, at an elevation of about 800 meters. Its formation is not yet clear, possibly a crater lake, or a depression formed by a fumarole, or a volcanic depression. The lake is home to a rare aquatic fern - Taiwan Isoetes, which is one of the few places in the world where Isoetes grows at a low latitude. This plant is extremely rare, so Dream Lake has been designated as an ecological protection area to protect this national treasure aquatic fern.
General tourists are prohibited from entering the lake area, and there is a platform next to the lake for viewing. In autumn and winter, there is little rain, and the lake surface is often dry. In spring and summer, there is continuous rain. After the rainy season or heavy rain, the lake water overflows. If mountain fog covers the area, the lake color, mountain shadows, and misty clouds appear ethereal, creating a dreamlike scene.
