The Eighteen Arhats Mountain is located on Provincial Highway 27A, about 5 kilometers from Liugui District. It is known along with Huoyan Mountain in Miaoli and Jiujiu Peak in Nantou as one of Taiwan's three major Huoyan Mountains. The Eighteen Arhats Mountain is composed of a conglomerate layer. Due to the different cementation between the gravels, the rocks are easily eroded and exposed to the surface by rainwater. The dozens of towering mountain peaks resemble Buddhist monks in various expressions and postures, hence its name. It also has the reputation of being "Taiwan's Little Guilin". The unique landforms commonly found in this area include solitary peaks, half-face mountains, steep cliffs, U-shaped valleys, canyons, meanders, dendritic water systems, and dry river valleys. It is a rare natural geographical museum. Currently, the Eighteen Arhats Mountain is a natural ecological conservation area. Before entering, a visitor must apply to the Pingtung Forest District Management Office. It is recommended to stay for about 1-2 hours.
