The Huangdi Dian hiking trail is located in the Shiding District of New Taipei City, and is a mountain ridge that extends north from the Xueshan Range. It is most famous for the rocky ridge trail between its East Peak and West Peak. The name "Huangdi Dian" comes from the Tianwang Temple below the ridge, with "Huangdi Dian" being another name for the Tianwang Temple. The Huangdi Dian Mountain generally refers to the entire narrow rocky ridge from the East Peak to the West Peak. The ridge is so narrow that it can only accommodate one person at a time, with near-vertical cliffs on one side and gently sloping terrain on the other. Many people slow down their pace while walking on this ridge, and some even crawl forward, which is why it is often described as "ants crossing a threshold" in the mountain climbing community. Some sections of the trail have iron chains, ropes, and railings for protection, but the trail still remains exciting and thrilling, making it a very popular hiking route. Due to the youthful geological age of the area, there are many unique landscapes, including cliffs and deep valleys. The Yiding Shibajian rock formation points directly at Shiding, with a straight-line distance of 4 kilometers, making it a rare rock climbing spot. The East Peak has an elevation of 593 meters, the West Peak has an elevation of 560 meters, and the Tianwang Peak (Middle Peak) has an elevation of 562 meters. The Tianwang Peak is located in the middle of the ridge, with a yellow flag bearing the words "Tianwang Temple" planted at the summit. Although the mountains in this area are not very high, the view to the north is excellent. On a clear day, you can see the Sifenzaiwei Mountain to the north, and the Qixing Mountain and Huankou Mountain to the northwest.
