Changhua Kapok Blossom Season

Along the Dongluo River in Changhua County, from Pítou to Erlin, a 5-kilometre stretch of riverbank road is planted with more than 600 kapok trees, forming the longest and most spectacular kapok-tree avenue in Taiwan. In March, the spring blossoms burst into fiery red, weaving an endless orange-red tunnel. The Pítou and Erlin kapok avenues link up, their flower-laden branches blazing as if half the sky were aflame. On one side, fresh-green paddies provide contrast; on the other, the gentle Dongluo River mirrors the scene, creating a dream-like vista that draws blossom-chasers from across the island. Zhutang’s hidden kapok grove is smaller in scale, but you must climb the levee and venture deep into the fields, giving it a secluded, secret atmosphere that has also made it one of spring’s hottest spots.
