彰化縣彰化市溫泉路31號
Whenever the Royal Poinciana bursts into bloom and the farewell songs begin to play, it is the season when students across the campuses graduate and leave their schools. The blazing flowers resemble a sea of scarlet fire, earning the tree its reputation as one of the most vividly colored in the world; the plants can reach heights of over 20 meters. Because the Royal Poinciana usually blooms from May to July—Taiwan’s graduation season—it has become a symbol of this time of year. The Skywalk at Baguashan, next to the Great Buddha, is a winding white pedestrian bridge with seven entrances and exits that crosses Gua-shan Road from above. In May and June you can see Royal Poinciana blooming beside it; the brilliant red petals set against the green leaves seem to celebrate the arrival of summer! Lü-sun Road in Xizhou Township, Changhua County, lies at the junction of Xizhou, Tianzhong and Ershui, linking Dazhuang and Chenggong communities. Along its two-kilometer stretch stand Royal Poinciana trees. When flowering season arrives each year, the entire avenue appears to don festive crimson blouses; the trees and ground alike glow scarlet, forming a resplendent green tunnel. After recent media coverage, this once-hidden rural gem has drawn many visitors. When the Royal Poinciana is in full bloom it looks like giant red parasols; strolling beneath the Xizhou tunnel of blossoms while gazing at the emerald rice waves in the surrounding fields, one’s mood becomes as light as one’s footsteps, savoring the quiet, unhurried beauty of the countryside in early-summer breezes.
