Meihuo Garden is located at the entrance of Hanbo Trail and was originally a garrison of the military police escorting President Chiang Kai-shek during his residence at Sun Moon Lake. The name symbolizes the spirit of the military police. After the 921 Earthquake, the management authority planned it as a scenic viewpoint. In previous years, during fireworks displays over the lake near Shuishe Pier, the garden, situated at a vantage point high above, became the best spot to view the fireworks. This provided tourists staying at Sun Moon Lake with an alternative night-time recreational activity.
