Kisar Mugeneration
Chengrén Street, once called Měi Street, was home to many painters during the Japanese era; traditional scroll-mounting shops once lined the lane. Though the glory has faded, a quiet, refined atmosphere still lingers. Standing here, Mugeneration Kisar Café presents a minimalist modern façade, while inside vintage relics mingle with avant-garde design—an aesthetic gem hailed as “the beauty of Chengrén.”
The founder, from a design background, uses pastries and coffee as a medium, turning the café into a platform for sharing urban aesthetics. By connecting with neighboring shops and collaborating with peers, the café galvanizes Chiayi’s young returnees, creating a “swarm effect” where unity amplifies impact, revealing more facets of the city’s culture.
Rooted in Chiayi yet crossing city lines, Mugeneration has teamed up with Spring Pool The POOL to launch the forest-inspired “matcha moss ball” dessert, sparking buzz. Together with Hsinchu’s Spring Pool Glass, it stepped into the Tainan Art Museum, creating “TAM Spring Pool”—an urban sky-garden that exports Chiayi’s creative energy to the ancient capital.
