Houpengtan is located near Taiping Elementary School, and is the source of the northern branch of Beishi Creek. The two hills beside the pond resemble a fierce tiger and a clouded leopard, hence the name Houpengtan, also known as "Little Jiuzhaigou of Northern Taiwan". Not only is the mountain and forest scenery beautiful, but in autumn, one can also admire the silvergrass that covers the mountains and valleys. The dark green lake water reflects the surrounding mountain colors and tree shadows, and a circular walking path is planned near the mountain foot, allowing visitors to take in the beautiful scenery. In autumn, one can also admire the silvergrass that covers the mountains and valleys. Visitors can climb up to the viewing platform to take in the natural beauty of Houpengtan, which is currently planned as a waterside scenic area, with an ecological wooden path and a viewing platform above it, allowing visitors to take in the natural beauty of Houpengtan. Every holiday, there are hikers or young students who come with companions to take in the beauty of the pond and water. With the gradual appearance of the results of the creek closure and fish conservation, the fish population has become abundant, making it a popular spot for fish-watching. For those who want to feed the fish, it's not a bad idea to bring some toast to feed them, and watch the fish competing for food and enjoying their leisurely lives, making the trip absolutely worthwhile. The best time to take photos at Houpengtan is from afternoon to 4 pm, as the surrounding forest is dense, and the sunlight can only shine in after noon, with the slanted light better able to present a three-dimensional effect and layers! Visitors are reminded to pay attention to the weather when visiting, as it may affect the water level and cause sudden flooding.
