The Hou Tou Jing Recreation Area located in FuShan Village, Nantou City, is a well-known scenic spot in the Ba Gua Shan Scenic Area. The valley's terrain resembles a well, and there is a small mountain peak in front of the valley, which looks like a monkey crouching down to peer into the well. This is how it got its name - Hou Tou Jing. The Ba Gua Shan mountain range spans across Nantou and Chang Hua. There are two hiking trails leading to the top. One connects to an observatory pavilion in a tea plantation, and the other connects to the observation deck in the Hou Tou Jing recreation area. The two used to be separated by a valley, but now a "Sky Bridge" connects them. Not only is it convenient, but it has also become a highlight of the recreation area. Inside the recreation area, there are beautiful garden pathways and corridors with landscaping. At the end of the recreation area, there is an observation tower where you can gaze at the beautiful scenery of the Chang Hua plains. Inside the tower, there is a well, which allows visitors to experience the scene of the monkey peering into the well. The Sky Bridge spans across both sides of the valley in the Hou Tou Jing recreation area. It is the longest sky bridge in Taiwan and the first ladder-like suspension bridge in Taiwan. It is 204 meters long, with a total of 265 stairs and a height difference of 5.65 meters at both ends. It can hold up to 150 people at a time. From the bridge, you have an excellent view of the Chang Hua plains. On a clear day, you can even see the Xi Luo Bridge and the mouth of the Zhuo Shui River as it flows into the sea. The beautiful scenery is all in view. As the sun sets, the LED lights on the Sky Bridge automatically turn on. When viewed from afar, it looks like a smile suspended in the dark mountain, which gives it another nickname - "Smiling Sky Bridge". On the other side of the suspension bridge, there is an observation platform. Although it is not at a high point, it is still an excellent spot to watch the sunset. The Hou Tou Jing recreation area is also known as the "Sunset Valley". If you happen to be there when the sun is setting, you might as well find a good spot, stop and admire the golden scenery as the sun's rays shine down. In addition to the famous and distinctive Sky Bridge that attracts visitors, the recreation area also has a parking lot and a visitor service center, making it more convenient for tourists.
