Located in the Lijiang District, which is the southwest end of Taichung, Lishui Fishing Harbor is one of the six major fishing harbors in the Greater Taichung area. Originally, it was an old fishing harbor that had been developed for a hundred years. However, with the construction of a nearby thermal power plant, the fishing industry gradually declined and became less popular. Nowadays, there are hardly any fishing boats docking here, and only a few small boats are anchored. Later, the abandoned sea patrol station on the embankment was renovated into a scenic platform with a Greek-style blue and white theme. Additionally, a nearby bike path and pedestrian walkway were built, making it an ideal spot for newlyweds to take wedding photos, watch the sunset, appreciate birds, and ride bicycles to enjoy the sea view. Lishui Fishing Harbor was initially built during the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty and is located near the mouth of the Dadu River. It boasts rich tidal ecosystems. During low tide, small crabs and other creatures can be seen in the mudflats. From October to May of the following year, it is the main bird-watching season, and various bird species can be observed here. As the sun sets, the beautiful natural scenery is no less impressive than that of Gaomei Wetland, attracting many photography enthusiasts to come and appreciate the breathtaking views. The scenic platform on the embankment features a Mediterranean-style blue and white building exterior, with arches, fan windows, bell clocks, and heart-shaped railings, creating a strong exotic romantic atmosphere. In the simple and rustic Lishui fishing village, it is particularly refreshing and has become a favorite among tourists. Visitors come to the observation deck to take photos, or ride bicycles along the coastline, watching the sunset, and enjoying the sea view, making the once deserted Lishui Fishing Harbor have a chance to regain its former glory.
