Baisha Harbor, the main maritime gateway of Beigan - Baisha Harbor, situated at the southern tip of Beigan Island in the Matsu Islands, is a crucial transportation hub for inter-island travel within the Matsu Islands as well as for the small three links to the mainland. In the past, before the construction of the wharf, the coastline was covered with gleaming white fine sand, thus earning the name "Baisha" (white sand). After the completion of the Baisha Wharf in 1998, the pristine white sand beach was transformed into a modern seaport gateway for Beigan. Additional construction of the port administrative building and the western coastal road connected to Bakan, significantly improving sea and land transportation, complemented by its beautiful blue seascape and continuous coastline, making it an important port that combines fishery and commercial functions. Behind the port administrative building, the Baisha settlement has preserved several older buildings, stacked in a stair-step style upon the Nigu Hill. The ancient stonework houses exhibit a strong fishing community character. Stroll among the traditional houses, capturing scenic perspectives of narrow alleys, and delicately savor the faint traces of time through the winding small paths. Begin your journey in Beigan from here! Pingshui Zunwang Temple - the majestically styled palace-style temple Located beside Baisha Harbor, the Pingshui Zunwang Temple is an uncommonly large northern-style palace-style temple in the Matsu Islands. Although the exterior of the temple appears small, it exudes a grand and solemn aura, becoming a landmark of Baisha Harbor and worth a visit. It is said that the original temple was planned during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty and, through various dynastic changes, transformed from a modest structure to a splendidly luxurious temple, symbolizing the devout faith of the local residents. Even when overseas descendants flourish outside the island, they still yearn to return to their hometown and leave behind the memories of their journey. Address: No. 41, Baisha Village, Beigan Township, Lienchiang County
