Kimshan Old Airport Site and Lee Yi-Feng Ancient Residence

2025-07-30
Starting from the Jinshan city area, there are two places to stop and relax near the Huangxi Bridge. One is the Jinshan Old Airport on the left side of the road, and the other is the most magnificent century-old mansion in Jinshan - Li Qifeng's ancient house. The Jinshan Old Airport was once a place where Japanese troops were stationed. At that time, a temporary military airport runway about 2 kilometers long and 500 meters wide was built here, covering an area of over 100 hectares. It was used as a test flight site for Zero fighter jets. The site still preserves three large stone wheels, which were used by the Japanese to flatten the ground when building the airport, and are the only remaining relics. The other is a Fujian-style three-in-one courtyard with a history of over 200 years, Li Qifeng's ancient house, which is the most complete Fujian-style ancient house preserved in the northern coastal area. It is said that the owner of Qifeng Residence was Li Bu, who immigrated to Taiwan from Zhangzhou in 1802 to open up the land. He started from scratch and became rich and influential, and was known as the richest man and influential family in the Jinpakuli area at that time. Stepping into Qifeng Residence, there is a half-moon pool in the front and an orchard in the back. The feng shui design for seeking wealth and fortune is revealed in this ancient house. According to the customs of the Qing Dynasty, the roofs of common people's houses were not allowed to have upturned corners, but Qifeng Residence has a luxurious one, which shows the owner's power and achievements. The decorations on the roof are also very delicate. Currently, Qifeng Residence is still inhabited by people. As long as you don't disturb them, you are welcome to visit and observe from outside.
