The Weidiao Mountain Trail is located at the border of Pingtung County Sandimen Township and Kaohsiung City Maolin District, near the Dajin Bridge. The trailhead is about 1,427 meters above sea level. There are two trail entrances. One starts from the industrial road beside Dajin Bridge, passing through "Jiyi Pavilion" along the way. From there, you can see the Laonong Creek in Liugui and the Zhuokou Creek in Maolin. Then, you can climb to an observation deck at an altitude of 1,150 meters to have a panoramic view of Maolin and Wanshan. To reach the summit, you need to climb a long, steep slope and use ropes, which is more challenging. The other trailhead is at the 23.5K mark of the Shaxi Forest Road in Koushe. Starting from Shaxi Forest Road, the scenery along the way is beautiful, and the ecological environment of flora and fauna is rich. The trail has ecological explanation signs. This route is a moderately difficult to challenging trail, 9.3 kilometers one way, and takes around 7 to 8 hours to complete. Weidiao Mountain is a training base for hikers and a high-challenge route to train physical strength, leg strength, endurance, and perseverance. This route is known as a "Small Hundred Mountains" trail. It is recommended to spend half a day to a day to complete the challenge. It is suggested to bring trekking poles, gloves, hiking boots, etc., to adapt to the terrain changes, and to prepare sufficient equipment and water supply. Please check the weather before departure.
